Ed Klotz, owner of Bauer Optical, brings more than 20 years of ophthalmic knowledge and educates you on the best solution for your individual needs. Ed earned his opticians license from New York State. He is a member of the American Board of Optometry. He lives in Brewster and is passionately into motorcycling.

If the owner's name is Klotz, why is it called Bauer Optical?
This is a frequently asked question and here is the answer:

The company was originally established in 1939, by Henry and Gertrude Bauer under the name Bauer Optical Export Corp. It began as an export sales force for a number of major American Ophthalmic manufacturers. The company was purchased in 1978 by Ed Klotz Sr. and still maintained the export sales.

After college, Ed Klotz Jr. began working there and expanded the business as a stock office for local laboratories in order to get lenses faster. With so many products now being produced overseas, it has affected export sales. So in order to evolve, Ed Jr. went back to school and obtained his Opticians license. He took the company over in 1999, upon his fathers retirement, and has changed the name to Bauer Optical Eye Care.

Ed Klotz Jr. is the sole owner and Hastings-on-Hudson is the only location.
